What do the icons on the map mean?
The pink icon with the black heart in the center represents your favorite toilets.
The green icon means that the toilet is open. SitOrSquat knows the hours that the facility is open and closed and depending on what time of day you are viewing the toilet. If hours have been submitted by previous users, we’ll indicate that on the map.
The red icon means that the toilet is closed at the time of day you are looking at it. Hours have been recorded by previous users.
The yellow icons mean that no users have submitted hours of operation so we cannot tell you if that toilet is open or closed. It very well may be open and we’re counting on our users to fill that data in as time goes by so that SitOrSquat can continue to deliver more and more accurate toilet details.
And lastly, the blue icon. You will only see one of these because it is the toilet you are currently viewing. When you ht another toilet and view it, you will notice that the blue changes back to whatever other color it was before and the new toilet you clicked will change to blue.
What does “sit” mean and what does “squat” mean?
To “sit” on a toilet bowl means users were generally comfortable enough to expose their bare bottoms to the cold porcelain seats beneath them. To “squat” over a toilet means that most users were not comfortable touching any part of the toilet seat and so they exercised the “squat”. This may take some extra thigh muscle support. We do not recommend squatting when carrying heavy objects, if you are tired or intoxicated, or if the toilet seat is much higher than average. However, we DO recommend squatting when the toilet is just plain nasty. In the end, it’s your decision entirely. We are not responsible for what happens behind closed bathroom doors.
How do you determine if a toilet is a “sit” or a “squat”?
Well, that’s really up to you guys. Depending on what the average rating of a toilet is, it will be categorized as a “sit” or a “squat”. An average rating of 2.5 or less will result in a “squat”. An average rating above 2.5 will result in a “sit”. The more users rate the toilets, the more accurate this information will be.

What is a RADAR UK Toilet?
A RADAR UK Toilet is a toilet which is part of the National Key Scheme (NKS). The NKS, sometimes known as the RADAR Scheme, was developed because some public toilets designed for disabled people had to be locked to prevent damage and misuse. They offer independent access to disabled people to around 7,000 locked public toilets around the UK. RADAR would like all providers of accessible toilets to keep their toilets unlocked if at all possible. The NKS is suggested for use only if the provider concerned has to keep the toilets locked to stop vandalism and misuse. For more information, visit the NKS website to learn more.
